Who is Beads in a Box?
Community Action Partnership of
Mid-Nebraska (Mid) is a non-profit organization based in Kearney that
assists low-income, elderly, disabled, men and women, young parents, and
children. Our community service programs help people and change lives in
27 counties in south central Nebraska and two Kansas counties. With less
federal and state funds our agency needed to look at new ways to create
discretionary funds. With this in mind, Mid created Beads in a Box (BIAB),
an artist designed jewelry business. Mid volunteers currently create BIAB
jewelry that is sold at special events that include local craft shows,
open houses, conventions and conferences.
How old is Beads in a Box? We've been in business for five
years and continue to create unique and heirloom quality jewelry. Our
jewelry line continues to change with the use of new stones. Designers
make an annual buying trip to Tucson, AZ, the world’s largest bead and gem
shows, to view, assess, and purchase unique stones used to create
one-of-a-kind, heirloom quality treasures that will span generations.
Beads in a Box stands behind our one-of-a-kind jewelry and satisfaction is
guaranteed.
In 2008, we added
Something for Everyone (SFE) that introduced a purchased line of
jewelry that provides a mid-price range.
What are our goals? We hope to employ individuals to help them reach
self-sufficiency. They would create products in their home allowing them
to spend more quality time with their young family creating income at the
same time. We also want to hire an individual who can help design,
develop, and maintain our website. During the initial development of BIAB,
volunteers have been able to create to meet the demand. It is our goal to
increase business to be able to create employment opportunities for Beads
in a Box.
Beads in a Box attends craft and trunk shows, and participates in
conferences and conventions. With no formal store front, our business is
portable. We look for opportunities to showcase Beads in a Box and
Something for Everyone jewelry. BIAB has jewelry in store around Nebraska.
How can the public help? There are many ways to help
including purchasing our high-quality, unique product lines, sharing our
mission with family and friends, contacting us with special orders and
exclusive opportunities, featuring BIAB jewelry in your store, asking us
to create a signature piece for your event or your cause and much, much
more!
